Irvington candidate withdraws; council to advertise for attorney

IRVINGTON—Interim town council member Chris Braly on Thursday, September 23, informed his peers and constituents that he has withdrawn his candidacy for the vacant council seat in the November 2 special election.

“I have decided that I cannot devote enough time and energy to effectively represent the residents of Irvington,” Braly said.

Although it is past the deadline to register as a candidate and have a name printed on a ballot, a new council member could still be voted in during the November 2 election based on which resident receives the most write-in votes.

In other news, council discussed the next steps for hiring a new town attorney. According to human resources committee chairman Dudley Patteson, three candidates have shown interest….
