IRVINGTON—The town’s planning commission on July 2 commenced a discussion on Irvington’s commercial zoning.
Member Jackie Brown suggested a new ordinance or an addition to the town’s business regulations.
The ordinance would preserve and enrich the charm of the village while maintaining the existing atmosphere, enhance the livability and improve the attractiveness to visitors and promote tourism.
Brown said the intentions of this new ordinance also would nurture a humanly scaled diverse retail and service economy that benefits the community, create and maintain a business environment that is hospitable to locally owned and managed businesses, preserve Irvington’s distinctiveness as a place to visit and prevent commercial sprawl outside the existing business district……
