Irvington council conducts public hearing on proposed $592,874 budget for 2024-25

IRVINGTON—On behalf of the Irvington Town Council budget and finance committee, Mary Cary Bradley on Thursday, April 11, presented the proposed fiscal year 2024-25 budget totaling $592,874 for public hearing.

According to Bradley, several highlights to the budget include a near 38% increase in revenues with a 27% increase in expenses, a decrease in the town real estate tax, a contribution of nearly $150,000 to the capital improvement fund and an increase in deputy hours to total 740 for the year.

Revenues for the year are projected at $592,874. This is a $148,842 increase over the current $444,032.

According to Bradley, the proposed real estate tax rate is slightly lower at $0.0215 per $100 of property value. Related revenues are projected at $62,401, a slight decrease from the current $62,739.

Despite the meals tax initially being introduced with a sunset clause only to be in place for a year, the committee recommends continuation….
