Irvington Farmers Market season to start

Vendors selling produce, handmade crafts, food and other refreshments, will converge May 4 at Irvington Commons, 98 King Carter Drive, Irvington. The monthly farmers market will be held from 9 a.m.-1 p.m..

“There will be the full complement of artisans selling handmade jewelry, ceramics, woodwork, weavings, baskets, photography and paintings, throughout the season,” said market coordinator Anne Mattheisen.

Paige Melton, a solo singer, guitarist and violinist from Hampton Roads, currently residing in Richmond, will provide the entertainment from the gazebo. She sings everything from folk, to blues and jazz standards and is gaining a following locally from recent performances at area venues.

Oyster tacos made to order, sausage biscuits, crab cake sandwiches, hamburgers and hot dogs will be for sale.

The market, on first Saturdays May through November, is sponsored by the Irvington Village Improvement Association.
