Irvington planners OK land use applications

IRVINGTON—The Irvington planning commission on Tuesday, January 12, recommended several pending land use applications to town council for approval.

Council approved the applications on Thursday, January 14 (see related story).

The commission supported measures to allow the Tides Inn to proceed with a waterfront enhancement project.

The Tides Inn plans to develop three access points for passive recreational trails within the resource protection area (RPA) along Carter Creek. The project includes the installation of a boardwalk and living shoreline.

The commission voted unanimously in favor of the RPA exemptions, 7-0. Chairman Julie Harris and members Tom Chapman, Steve Kimmeth, Lee Hood Capps, Phil Robinson, Chris Braly and Brian Forrester all voted in favor.
