Irvington planners suggest reinforcing livestock prohibition

IRVINGTON—Horses, pigs, cattle and the like will not be welcome in Irvington if the planning commission gets its way.

While revisiting related regulations on Tuesday, May 6, commission member Allen Whitaker provided a proposed update for consideration by town council.

According to Whitaker, the code currently allows agriculture with conditional use permits, not including horses, pigs, cattle, fowl, or the like. Despite a history of horses residing in Irvington, the proposed language change doubles down on the prohibition.
