IRVINGTON—As the Irvington Town Council begins planning for upgrades to the Commons, residents made it clear they want to see more tennis courts.
Reporting to council on Thursday, August 8, Commons committee chairman Judy Penniman provided bids and scopes of work from two tennis court building companies. According to Penniman, Ben Rennolds and Tennis Courts Inc. submitted two bids each, one for a scope of work consisting of two pickle ball courts and one tennis court and another for four pickle ball courts and one tennis court.
Prior to the report, residents made clear they didn’t want to see a decrease in the number of tennis courts, but additions to the existing two that are on the Commons.
During public comment, Ed Burton suggested keeping two tennis courts and drawing additional lines on the courts to suit pickle ball regulations in order to have an adequate number of courts.
Joanna Marchetti noted how there are already people waiting to play tennis on the two existing courts frequently….
