The Town of Irvington will celebrate the significant contributions of community leaders at its Hometown Parade on July 4, beginning at 11 a.m. on King Carter Drive.
Holiday weekend activities also will include the Irvington Farmers Market from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. July 6 at the Irvington Town Commons on King Carter Drive, sponsored by the Irvington Village Improvement Association (VIA).
The parade will feature decorated bicycles and golf carts, pets, classic cars and floats, said Judy Penniman, councilwoman and chairman of the special events committee, which is sponsoring the event. A classic car show will be held on the Irvington Town Commons at noon.
The parade is seeking participants, said Penniman. Prospective paraders and owners of classic cars should register their entries before June 24 by contacting visitirvingtonva.com/4thjuly. There is no registration fee.
The honorees are Michelle Lybarger, VIA Volunteer of the Year; David and Katie Dew, Chesapeake Academy (CA) All-Stars; and Ann Meekins, Irvington Virginia Business Association (IVBA) Business of the Year….
