Irvington’s crepe myrtles promised a reprieve

IRVINGTON— It appears Dominion Energy has reached a truce with the town of Irvington that will protect power lines without chopping off all the branches on the street side of trees along King Carter Drive.

“Those trees were a gift to the town of Irvington,” said councilwoman Fran Westbrook. She contacted Dominion last summer when the cutting first began.

Dominion’s external affairs manager Charles Donato last week appeared before council to address residents’ concerns. Donato agreed to have a crew return in February to trim up the back sides of the trees to help even them out…
