James A. Whitaker Sr.

James A. Whitaker Sr.

HARTFIELD—James Allen Whitaker Sr. passed away on April 5, 2022, after a short illness to be with his family and friends that have gone before him.

James was born on July 23, 1950, the son of James Archibald Whitaker and Dorothy Mae Thomas. He was married to his devoted and loving wife for 47 years.

He is survived by wife, Carol Whitaker; two sons, Allen and Devin Whitaker; three grandchildren, Logan, Austin and Faith Whitaker; sister Kay Snow; brother, Dan Whitaker and Gina; and one nephew, Brent Whitaker and family.

James was vice president of Lamberth Building Materials in White Stone for 43 years. He was a dedicated and loyal employee. He was trusted and admired by contractors that he serviced.

James was very active in the sport of baseball for many years. He coached and played on the Syringa Boys League team before the league went to the official Little League status. James was recognized and named the 2018 Middlesex County Little League Honoree.

He had a great personality and sense of humor. Always had a joke or two to share with those he met. He was pretty much a homebody enjoying spending time with his family and maintaining his beautiful home and yard.

A Celebration of Life for James Allen is scheduled from 1-3 p.m. April 23, at the Urbanna Firehouse.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Middlesex County Little League, P.O. Box 125 Saluda, VA 23149; or a charity or social group of one’s choosing.

Faulkner Funeral Homes, Bristow-Faulkner Chapel, Saluda, is assisting the family with the arrangements.
