
BURLINGTON, NJ—Jean Louise Wiggs was born on February 22, 1930, in Jersey City, N.J. Jean passed away on March 25, 2023, in Burlington, N.J.
She is predeceased by her parents Margaret (nee Tiedemann) and Fred Weltz.
Jean graduated from William L. Dickinson H.S., Jersey City, in 1947. She married the love of her life, Charles A. Wiggs, on January 7, 1950.
She also leaves behind many children and grandchildren, Gail B. Wiggs, Caryl Joy Treiber and husband, Michael, and Scott Charles Wiggs (wife Heidi deceased), and current wife, Ali; grandchildren, Michael S. Treiber and wife, Kim, Heather (Treiber) Williams and husband, Scott, Jeremy Wiggs and wife, Courtney, and Rebecka Wiggs; and great-grandchildren, Madison and Chase Williams, Cadence and Holden Wiggs, and Dylan and A.J. (Aaron John) Treiber.
Jean was employed at Mechanics Finance Co., Jersey City, 1947-1950, then at Educational Testing Service, Princeton, N.J., 1958-1961 (part time). She then worked at Industrial Reactor Laboratories, operated by Columbia University, Plainsboro, N.J., 1961-67, at Princeton University, Physics Department and subsequently at the Center for Energy & Environmental Studies, 1967-1995, where she retired in 1995.
She was past resident, Soroptimist International, Princeton; member, board of directors, Princeton University Federal Credit Union, 1970-1995; member, Historyland Community Workshop, Lancaster, 1995-2018; and elder, long time member, St Andrews Presbyterian Church, Kilmarnock, 1995–2023; and a volunteer, Northern Neck Free Health Clinic, 1995-2018.
She enjoyed reading, knitting and doing many beautiful, counted cross-stitch projects.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 17, at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, 435 East Church Street, Kilmarnock, VA 22482.
