PETERSBURG—Mr. John Kelley passed March 23, 2018, in Petersburg.
John is survived by his parents, Hagar and Rosie Kelley; seven siblings, including his twin brother James (Kristin), Autumn, Stephen, Peter (Faith), Carrie (Olyvhia), Paul and David; companion, Jenny Reid; nieces, Hannah, Sophia and Danielle; maternal grandmother; and aunts and uncles.
John attended St. Vincent College and graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park in 2000. Upon graduation John began a successful career as a personal trainer working in the Greater D.C area. His career as a trainer yielded many dedicated clients and friends.
In 2012, John began to work as a corrections officer at Sussex II State Prison. John was dedicated to his service and team until his final day.
A service will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, March 29, at Tabernacle Baptist Church, 418 Halifax Street, Petersburg, Rev. Dr. Robert A. Diggs, Sr., pastor and Rev. Cynthia Baker, eulogist.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service at the church.
