Judge upholds six-year sentence in Hooper case

NORFOLK—John R. “Rand” Hooper of Richmond was sentenced to six years in jail in May for his role in the death of his friend Graham McCormick of Atlanta.

On Friday, September 16, Judge Charles Poston said he would not reduce that sentence.

Hooper’s attorneys filed a motion for a reduction in sentence on August 18, 16 days after Hooper was “received” by the Department of Corrections (DOC) and transferred from the Lancaster County Jail to St. Bride’s Correctional Facility in Chesapeake. Hooper did not attend last Friday’s hearing in Norfolk in person….
