June 21 is last day to file for Nov. 8 town elections

LANCASTER—Voter registrar Susan Jett reminds those seeking election to office in Kilmarnock, White Stone and Irvington that they have extra time to file this year.

The deadline to file to run for the November 8 election is June 21, said Jett.

In 2021, the General Assembly passed legislation mandating that city and town elections move from May to November to coincide with state and federal elections, beginning with elections held after January 1, 2022. Because of the change in the election date, prospective candidates have a later filing deadline.

Filing is simple, said Jett, “basically two pieces of paper to fill out.”
