Lancaster recorded six hits and 12 runs in the first inning last Tuesday to pick up its first win of the season in junior varsity baseball. The Red Devils beat Mathews, 16-3, and are now 1-2-1 after a loss to Rappahannock two weeks ago.
Taylor Davis had the win for Lancaster, which used three pitchers in the game. Pierson Long and Braiden George also put in time on the mound.
“This was a breakout game for us,” said LHS coach Tom Kleinfelter. “We hit good up and down the line-up, played great defense and had good pitching.”
