The Lancaster junior varsity baseball team has gotten off to a 3-2 start. Northern Neck District competition will begin this week.

The JV Red Devils were scheduled for back-to-back games against Colonial Beach and will host the Drifters today, April 16.

Lancaster went 1-1 last week with Middlesex breaking the Devils’ three-game winning streak on Wednesday, April 8. The two teams combined to score 34 runs. The Chargers won, 21-13.

“This was a slugfest for both teams and we came up short,” said LHS coach Tom Kleinfelter.

LHS freshman Lane Reynolds tallied four hits and two RBI. Reynolds wears several hats for the Devils as pitcher, shortstop and catcher. He pitched a complete game on Tuesday, April 7, with eight strikeouts and four hits allowed in Lancaster’s 7-2 win over Caroline.

Freshman Kamden Horn and eighth grader Nate George split pitching duties against the Chargers. Horn also plays second base and George catches.

George and freshman outfielder Ke’Nique Bunns had two hits each against Middlesex.
