
KILMARNOCK—Karen Harrison passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, July 20, 2025, following a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was born on November 22, 1957, to Anna Derr Harrison and the late Gilbert Randolph Harrison.
Karen was preceded in death by her brother, Gilbert Allen Harrison.
She is survived by her devoted mother, Anna Harrison of Kilmarnock; her sisters, Sharon Harrison of Richmond and Kay Harrison of Irvington; her brother, Eric Harrison of Tucson, Ariz.; and her aunt, Linda Alvis of Wichita, Kan. Karen also leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and cousins who held a special place in her heart.
After graduating high school, Karen proudly served in the United States Army. She later worked as a customer service representative in Tucson, where her warmth and patience touched countless lives. In her retirement, she returned to the Northern Neck to spend her remaining years with her cherished mother.
A devoted Washington Redskins fan, Karen followed her team with spirited loyalty through every season. She also had a deep affection for cats, and her home was often filled with the quiet comfort of feline companionship.
Karen will be remembered for her resilience, her generosity, and her unwavering love for family.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, July 25, at Currie Funeral Home in Kilmarnock. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at White Stone Methodist Church Cemetery in White Stone.
