HEATHSVILLE—Karl F. Pucher of Annandale and Heathsville died on Saturday March 23, 2024, at his Annandale home surrounded by members of his family.
Born August 31, 1944, in Rochester, New York, to John Richard and Stella (Klimcow), he served in the U.S. Navy (1967-1968) at facilities in Florida, graduated from the Rochester Institute of Technology and had a long career with the U.S. federal government. Karl held positions at the Departments of Education, Interior and State, retiring in 2001. His duties included travel in the South Pacific, providing training and negotiating grants.
Karl was the cherished husband of Nadine Leisz for 32 years; the beloved father of Elka (Peter) Armstrong and Alex Pucher; the adored grandfather of Ben, Megan and Erin Armstrong. He was the younger brother of Philip (Christine) Pucher; and a son-in-law, brother-in-law, uncle, cousin, friend and mentor to many.
After retirement Karl served on the board of directors of the Northumberland County Animal Shelter and the Reedville Fishermen’s Museum.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m. Friday, April 26, at Holy Trinity Church, Georgetown, Washington, D.C., with visitation immediately preceding.
