KILMARNOCK—The Kilmarnock Town Council on Monday, June 16, increased taxes and adopted a 2025-26 budget totaling $19,306,789.
According to town manager Susan Cockrell, the budget increases by $1,788,826 over the current budget of $17,517,963. The primary reasons for the increase stem from the continued development of the wastewater treatment plant, capital improvement projects, 3% payroll increases and additional staff positions, said Cockrell.
Councilwoman Rebecca Nunn said residents in Kilmarnock are very fortunate to have a town-operated water and sewer system, and that the increases to the budget and taxes are worth it for the wastewater treatment plant to be self sufficient.
