Kilmarnock council appoints Cooper to fill unexpired term

KILMARNOCK—The Kilmarnock Town Council on Monday, February 26, appointed Alice Cooper to to fill Kylie Abbott’s unexpired term ending December 31, 2024.

Abbott resigned February 5 leaving her seat vacant. Cooper, who had previously served on council in 2020, was unanimously appointed to the interim post, 5-0, by council members Rebecca Nunn, Mike Bedell, Les Spivey, Mae Umphlett and Curtis Smith.

Cooper, who serves as director of the Lancaster Community Library, is involved in a number of community groups, activities and charities.

On behalf of the economic development committee, Nunn said construction is underway for a new Starbucks on North Main….
