Kilmarnock endorses signing bonus for new law enforcement officers

KILMARNOCK—In an effort to recruit more law enforcement personnel, the Kilmarnock Town Council on Monday, August 15, implemented a new recruiting package which includes a $5,000 signing bonus.

After receiving very little interest in vacant law enforcement positions, council member Les Spivey said the police and public safety committee was recommending a new recruiting package.

Spivey introduced a motion to approve the sign-on package which will include a base salary of $43,000 for non-certified candidates and $45,000 for certified candidates. The $5,000 bonus would be paid in two installments….
