Kilmarnock Town council appoints Cynthia Scott to fill unexpired term

KILMARNOCK—Cynthia Scott on Monday, December 15, was appointed to the Kilmarnock Town Council to fill the unexpired term of Curtis Smith.

According to Mayor Shawn Donahue, the vacancy on council received seven applications from qualified residents. Donahue noted that he is pleased with the willingness of the public to participate in town government.

Of the seven applicants, Scott and Braxton “Carter” Robbins were named the two finalists for the position.

After brief questions of both Scott and Robbins, Mike Bedell moved to appoint Scott to the position; Alice Cooper seconded the motion. However, Mae Umphlett and Rebecca Nunn supported Robbins for the post. Donahue eventually broke the tie, and the motion to appoint Scott passed….
