Winners in the 63rd annual Labor Day Art Show were announced during a reception and awards ceremony Friday, August 30, at RAL Art Center, 19 North Main Street, Kilmarnock.
Show judge Diana L Blanchard Gross selected 27 from the 136 entries to receive ribbons and cash prizes, reported show chairman Juli Semanski.
For Best in Show, Gross selected “Seasons,” a punch needle fiber art work by Cheryl Mihills. Gross said it was small but displayed exceptional creativity and technical skill.
The Lella Lee Memorial Award for Overall Excellence went to “Assume the Position,” a watercolor by Doug Mock. He successfully created a piece that resonates with the viewer, said Gross.
