Mathews went on a 20-2 run in the second quarter to pull away early from host Northumberland in a varsity girls basketball game in Claraville last Friday.

Joice Small scored 18 points to lead three double digit scorers for the Mathews Lady Blue Devils, who beat the Northumberland Lady Indians, 65-33, the second game of the season for NHS.

The Lady Indians will play Rappahannock in Warsaw at 6 p.m., tonight, February 4, and the Region 1A championship will be held between the two top teams at the site of the higher seed Monday, February 8. With a 25-person spectator cap, games are not open to the public.
