Lady Devils open season with 2-2 mark

Despite low numbers and a forced year off because of COVID-19, the Lancaster High School varsity Lady Devils have gotten off to a 2-2 start.

Coach Joanne Webb-Fary is fielding a team of eight, including three junior varsity players she has pulled up temporarily to compensate for some early-season injuries. Lancaster took a hard hit with a loss of senior veteran Laila Waters, who was injured in a scrimmage and is out for the year. Waters was one of only three seniors on the team. A’Nijah Ball and Aniyah Brown are the other two and add experience to a rather inexperienced squad.

“We’re green,” said Webb-Fary. “We have several who played middle school ball together but didn’t play last year. But because most of them played a year of middle school, they’re jelling pretty well. And we have a lot of potential….
