Lady Devils win district volleyball opener and one of two tie-breakers

Two of Lancaster’s varsity volleyball matches last week were decided in the tie-breaker of the best of five series.

West Point beat Lancaster, 3-2, last Monday to open a three-match week for LHS. The Lady Devils won their Northern Neck District opener, 3-1, over Colonial Beach last Tuesday then picked up a 3-2 win over Mathews Friday to improve to 5-6 overall.

Lancaster edged Mathews, 25-23, in the first set then lost, 21-25, in the second. The Devils came back for a 25-19 win in the third but the host Blue Devils tied the match up at two sets each with a 25-13 win in the fourth. Lancaster won 15-13 in the tie-breaker.
