Lady Indians continue rampage

by Lisa Hinton-Valdrighi

Cameron Lewis scored twice and the Lady Indians outshot the Lady Red Devils, 19-4, last Tuesday night as Northumberland blanked Lancaster, 8-0, in a girls soccer match.

The match was called with 15 minutes left on the slaughter rule.

It was Lancaster’s first outing of the season while Northumberland improved to 4-0-1 last week including a win over Middlesex. The Lady Devils, under new head coach Allyson Umstead, have not had a girls soccer team for two years.

“Our experience showed,” said NHS coach Mark Fridenstine. “But the LHS team did have many fast breaks and several nice shots. They played hunker-down defense at times that stopped many of our attacks.”

NHS goalkeepers Addie Swisher and Jean Jett each had two saves for the shutout…
