LANCASTER—The Lancaster County Circuit Court convened Friday, July 7, with the Hon. William H. Shaw III presiding.

In the case of Jerel L. Newton of Kilmarnock, charged with a felony for selling a Schedule I/II substance, a trial was scheduled for October 6.

Donovan R. Gregory of White Stone was arraigned on a felony charge of violating probation. A trial was set for July 28.

In the case of Brian L. Brooks of White Stone, charged with a felony for assaulting a family member, third plus offense; a felony for violating probation, and a misdemeanor for violating probation, bond was denied and a trial was scheduled for August 11.

In the case of Alkendra S. Coleman of Mollusk, who previously pleaded guilty to an amended felony charge of distributing to accommodate a Schedule I/II substance and was given a deferred disposition, a hearing was rescheduled for July 28. Coleman also is charged with a felony for violating probation. A show cause hearing on that charge also is scheduled at that time.

In the case of Juan A. Norris of Newport News, charged with four felonies for violating probation, a show cause hearing was rescheduled for July 28.

In the case of Keyvone T. Williams of Newport News, charged with nine felonies for violating probation, a show cause hearing was continued to October 6.

Daryl C. Mitchell of Kilmarnock, charged with a felony for assault on a law enforcement officer with malicious injury; a felony for assault on a law officer; two felonies for a prisoner assault on employees; two felonies for violating probation; and a misdemeanor for trespassing after being forbidden; was found not guilty by reason of insanity. A status hearing is scheduled for September 8.

In the case of Monterra T. Cottrell, no address given, charged with four felonies for violating probation, a show cause hearing was scheduled for July 28.

In the case of Mary E. Barrack of White Stone, charged with two misdemeanors for accessory after the fact in a felony and a misdemeanor for providing false information to a criminal investigator, all charges were nolle prossed.

In the case of Adam R. Tighe of Heathsville, charged with a felony for grand larceny, not from a person; a trial was continued to December 8.
