LANCASTER—Lancaster County Circuit Court judge John S. Martin on Friday, August 21, joined three other state courts and the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia in granting a stay in the challenge to Virginia’s assault weapons ban, according to an announcement from Virginia Attorney General Jay Jones.
In June, Martin issued a preliminary injunction preventing the Virginia State Police from enforcing the law which was set to go into effect on July 1. This stay will temporarily pause any further judicial proceedings.
