Lancaster drafts $53.4 million budget for fiscal year 2026-27

LANCASTER—Following the Lancaster school board’s $21.9 million budget request last week, county administrator Don Gill presented the county’s proposed $53.4 million budget for fiscal year 2027 to supervisors at a special budget work session on Thursday, March 12.

Like the school budget, Gill said the county budget draft includes 3% raises for all staff and would cover health insurance premium increases, which for the county was 7%. The budget also was drafted keeping taxes unchanged—real estate taxes at $0.55 per $100 of assessed value and general personal property and vehicles at $2.04 per $100 of assessed value.

Revenues for the next fiscal year are projected to total $46,734,690, an increase of $1,758,610 or 3.9% over the current budget. Much of that increase comes from a $1,197,342 increase in other local funds, which Gill said is mostly due to a $750,000 siting agreement from the Waller Solar project.
