Two titles down, one to go for the Lancaster High School golf team, which will vie for another state championship in two weeks.
The Red Devils, led by Northern Neck District and Region 1A medalist Claire Beitel, collected two trophies in five days, winning the district championship at Indian Creek Yacht and Country Club (ICYCC) Friday, September 23, and the regional title on their home course, Golden Eagle, Tuesday, September 27. Beitel was the individual champion of both tournaments, shooting a 2-under par 70 on a cold, windy day at ICYCC and finishing with a 5-over par 77 at the Eagle.
“One minute I was complaining about the wind, because it was awful, and the next I was playing the best 18 holes I’ve played,” said Beitel. “I shot under par in my first match ever!”
