Gov. Ralph Northam’s new restrictions regarding social gatherings have sports fans on edge.
The move from a 250-person limit down to 25 will impact spectators at the games, but according to Virginia High School League (VHSL) executive director Dr. John “Billy” Haun, this round of guidelines won’t impact play on the field or court.
“We want to make it very clear that the Governor’s order for reduction in public and private gatherings to 25 individuals applies to ‘spectators’ and not participants at those events,” said Haun. “Nothing in the order prevents VHSL member schools from holding contests.”
