Lancaster receives $600,000 donation for Early Childhood Education Center

KILMARNOCK—Superintendent Dan Russell on May 11 shared with the Lancaster school board that the district has received funding from The Nettie Lokey Wiley and Charles L. Wiley Foundation of $600,000 for the Early Childhood Education Center construction at 235 School Street in Kilmarnock.

A huge thank you goes out to them. With costs escalating, their huge donation to make this happen is a blessing and making this a possibility,” he said.

According to Russell, the total construction cost is now $1,495,243. The district has already secured $500,000 through the 2021 capital improvement plan and is expected to receive an additional $197,000 that was originally allocated for two bus replacements when the board of supervisors meets Thursday, May 27, to adopt budgets.

In a unanimous 5-0 vote, the board approved….
