Lancaster rushes the front heading to cross country regional race

by Lisa Hinton-Valdrighi

Lancaster’s Dominique Veney posted one of his best times of the season last Wednesday to win a boys cross country meet at LHS and help Lancaster beat Rappahannock.

Veney ran the 3.1-mile race in 18:11, 48 seconds ahead of Northumberland’s Auggie Swisher (18:59). Gunner Leminy of Rappahannock was third with a time of 19:05.

Lancaster had all five of its scorers finish in the top 10 team competitors for a low 26. Rappahannock scored 31. Northumberland only had four runners in the race so the Indians did not score as a team. However, Zach Moore placed fourth overall for NHS (19:58) and Denzell Mitchell was seventh (20:34).
