
KILMARNOCK—As May 31 approaches and the school year winds to a close, Lancaster schools on Monday, May 13, recognized the accomplishments of teachers and staff and the many years of service of the latest group of retirees.
Early Childhood Education Center coordinator Amanda Ambrose recognized special education instructional assistant Judy Swann and teacher Sharon Clarke. Clarke was also honored as teacher of the year for the division. Fifth grade science teacher Jade Davis and kindergarten instructional assistant Shanika Cockrell were recognized by Lancaster Elementary School principal Keegan Walters. French teacher Angela Anderson and school counselor Josh Suszek were recognized by Lancaster High School assistant principal Don Burd. Suszek was honored as staff member of the year for the division.
The division said goodbye to a group of retirees with 167 combined years of service—Rose Waters, cafeteria, 40 years; Pat Hedgmon, reading interventionist, 36 years; Kathy Diehl, bookkeeper, 28 years; Troy Henderson, security, 16 years; Karen Mast, driver, 15 years; Marilyn Washington, cafeteria, 16 years; Lindy Jett, driver, nine years; Karen McManus, eighth grade math, six years; and Dave Larsen, special education teacher, one year.
Mary Catherine Jones, who heads up career and technical education for the division, announced that as part of the workforce readiness program, rising junior Bailey Lease would be the school’s first summer intern with the Town of Kilmarnock. Lease will digitize town records from….
