LANCASTER—The Lancaster planning commission on Thursday, July 20, determined the latest proposed utility scale solar facility, off of Merry Point Road, substantially complies with the comprehensive plan.
Following a public hearing, the commission voted 4-0 to forward the special exception request to the board of supervisors for consideration.
County administrator Don Gill reminded everyone the purpose of the review is “not to approve or deny or make a recommendation on the special exception that the board of supervisors will consider. Your sole responsibility is to review its compliance with the comprehensive plan.” Gill outlined the three elements of conformance: location, character and extent of the project.
