Lancaster students now rooted in the new high school’s history

In a 1788 letter to James Madison, George Washington wrote, “Liberty, when it begins to take root, is a plant of rapid growth.” It seems only fitting then, that trees are being planted to mark the nation’s semiquincentennial.

With help from the Virginia Department of Forestry and Friends of the Rappahannock, Lancaster Elementary School sixth and seventh graders spent Earth Day, April 22, planting trees at the new Lancaster High School. The trees are part of a “250 for 250” grant….
