Lancaster successfully begins school year

During the Monday, August 12, school board meeting, administrators Keegan Walters and Mike Myers reported the school year is off to a successful start, with nearly all families attending open houses and strong attendance numbers on the first day.

They also reported that there was no pushback on the new cell phone policy. “Kids actually talked to one another at lunch time. It was heartwarming to see,” Myers said.

Early Childhood Education Center coordinator Amanda Ambrose helps Kennedi Bass, Class of 2039, find her very first classroom.

Superintendent Jessica Davis also shared resources for parents and staff to continue to make this year a successful one. Provided through a donation by the Cook Center for Human Connection, the classes and coaching are on the school division website and all are free of charge.

“We want to get the word out there, we want parents to use these,” Davis said. There are 91 on-demand courses available so that “parents can take them anytime anywhere. There are a variety of topics….
