Landman gets 10-year sentence for involuntary manslaughter

HEATHSVILLE—As part of a plea agreement, Bobby Ray Landman III on Tuesday, October 22, pleaded guilty to an amended charge of involuntary manslaughter for the March 29 shooting death of Seth Dutton, 41, of Heathsville. He was sentenced to 10 years by Judge John S. Martin in Northumberland County Circuit Court.

A second guilty plea for the use of a firearm in commission of felony garnered a five year suspended sentence under the terms of the agreement.

Landman, 22, of Lottsburg was originally charged with second degree murder after shooting Dutton during an argument in which Landman accused Dutton of pointing a gun at his fiancé, Victoria Coffman, and her friend, Braedon Willett, also Dutton’s stepdaughter.

Landman shined a spotlight into Dutton’s home next door, taunted him to come outside and fired….
