The Lancaster County Virginia Education Foundation (LCVEF) awards mini-grants in October and January to teachers in Lancaster County Public Schools.
Grants, up to $1,000, can be used to implement new programs or purchase supplies for special projects, reported Holly W. Braly.
For the 2023-24 school year, grants at Lancaster High School helped provide college and career binders for seniors, a college/career counseling display monitor, funds for the JRTOC program, assessment incentives for students, materials for Teachers for Tomorrow, a program for Spanish classes and a senior class field trip.

At Lancaster Elementary, grants supported the One Book reading initiative, purchasing a gaga ball pit for gym/recess, materials for a fifth grade science lab, STEM activities, uniforms for the wrestling program and robots for the Talented and Gifted Program.
At the Early Childhood Education Center, grants helped purchase light tables for the Pre-K program, bags for the Book Buddy initiative and calming corner learning stations.
The next round of mini-grants is due in October. Application forms may be found at www.lcvef06.org.
