New stadium, new school, a few new coaches and an increase in numbers equals a new era for Lancaster High School football.
After posting a banner season three years ago, the Red Devils have won only two games in the past two seasons and have gone winless against Northern Neck District opponents. But with 33 players, a focus on defense and a return to the unbalanced wing offense, head coach Landon Gouveia is expecting the Devils to surprise some folks.
“First day of practice we went to defense,” said Gouveia. “We’re concentrating on that. We want to be physical and run to the football. We’re gonna play hard; we want to earn some respect. And we want teams—after they play us—we want them to know they’ve been in a fight.”
