There’s obvious parity among the Northern Neck District varsity baseball teams. Lancaster’s early run through the district is proof of that.
Three of the Red Devils’ four district games have been decided by one run in extra innings. On Thursday, April 18, Lancaster scored on a two-out single by Taylor Davis in the top of the eighth to slip by Essex, 3-2, in Tappahannock. On Tuesday, April 16, the Raiders scored in the bottom of the eighth to beat Lancaster, 2-1, in Warsaw.
Two weeks ago Northumberland defeated LHS, 8-7, in an extra inning outing in Heathsville.
The Devils are 7-4 overall and 2-2 among district teams for a third-place ranking in Region 1A standings with six more games to play in the regular season.
Taylor Davis struck out 10 batters, gave up five hits and walked four through seven innings to come off the mound with the score tied at 2-2 against the Trojans.
