Lancaster County public schools continue to take a wait-and-see approach with winter sports.
According to Lancaster High School athletic director Dave Zeiler, the school system has decided to place the start of basketball, wrestling, indoor track and swim seasons on hold.
The Virginia High School League (VHSL) has left the decision to participate or not up to each school division but has given a 30-plus page document of recommendations to return-to-play. Locally, Northern Neck District schools Washington & Lee and Essex and Tidewater District’s Middlesex have opted not to participate in winter sports.
