Lancaster track teams complete competitive season at state meet; Makenzee Dagner wins 200 meter

Lancaster produced a Class 1 state track and field champion in female speedster Makenzee Dagner.

Dagner won the individual state championship in the 200 meter dash in 25.22, beating out a field of 17 sprinters including her Northern Neck District nemesis Janaya Moore of Westmoreland.

“She beat me at regionals,” said Dagner, a rising senior who transferred to LHS from Virginia Beach. “So I got my revenge at state.”

Dagner scored 16 points in her two sprints to account for almost half of Lancaster’s 36 points total. The Lady Devils finished sixth of 35 scoring schools in the Class 1 state track and field meet Saturday, June 7, at James Madison University. Auburn scored 73 points to win the team championship and….
