The Lancaster High School swim team had an impressive showing at its inaugural meet Saturday, January 12, in Richmond.
The team competed in the six-team Colonial Heights High School Invitational at the Swim RVA facility.
This meet was not necessarily about racking up points or winning, said coach Mike Loser. Instead, for their first meet of their first season the team concentrated on improving personal best times, winning heats and placing.
Members include senior Blake Smith, juniors Riley Molineaux, Virginia DeMario and Sydney Price; sophomores Kat Zeiler and Grace Oren; freshmen Olivia Saunders and Berkeley Kellum, Morgan VerMeer, Braiden Kent and Olivia Saunders, and eighth graders Abby Souders, Jameson Scott and Ella Posey.
Coaches Keegan Walters and Loser took 10 Red Devils swimmers to the meet. Each entered two individual events and two relays.
