LHS swimmer Blake Smith qualifies for state competition

In its debut season, Lancaster High’s swim team will send a swimmer to the Class 1/2 state meet in Richmond this week.

Senior Blake Smith finished third in the 100-meter backstroke at last week’s Region 1A/2A meet to earn a spot in the state race today, February 14, at SwimRVA in Chesterfield.

“Being able to participate in the state championship against both single and double A schools is not only a great opportunity for me, but hopefully it will prove to our swimmers next year that they can do it, too, and it will motivate them to work hard,” said Smith.

The Red Devils had competed in just one regular season meet prior to last week’s region meet.
