As summer approaches, special events are heating up around the Northumberland Public Library (NPL), 7204 Northumberland Highway, Heathsville.
Director Jane Blue recently put local educators on alert. In honor of National Teacher Appreciation Week, Ye Olde Book Shoppe, 7072 Northumberland Highway, Heathsville, will offer teachers as many books as they can fit in a paper bag for $5. Bags will be provided.
Teachers are urged to visit the shop from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Wednesdays through Fridays and 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturdays for other special deals. This is an opportunity to stock up on history, art, craft, gardening, sports, children’s and classic books, she said.
Meanwhile at NPL, a Traveling Exhibit from the Library of Virginia, “Strong Men & Women in Virginia History 2024,” sponsored by Dominion Power, will continue through May 25. The exhibit, comprised of three panels, honors four African Americans for their contributions to the Commonwealth.
The NPL summer reading program will begin May 16 with events for all….
