Northumberland Public Library today, August 10, will present a class on safely viewing the upcoming solar eclipse. The class will be held at 10 a.m. at the library, 7204 Northumberland Highway, Heathsville.
The solar eclipse will take place August 21, reported Pamela Hagy.
The class will be taught by resident celestial navigation instructor Jim Schmaltz, said Hagy. Schmaltz is concerned that many folks will buy “special” eclipse glasses, or try to use ordinary sunglasses, to protect their eyes. These methods are far from foolproof.
