CHARLOTTE, NC—Lillian Wells Moore, 97, died peacefully on June 11, 2023, in Charlotte, N.C.

Born October 27, 1925, to John Thomas Wells and Anne Ramsey Longino Wells of Greenwood, Miss., Lillian was a 1946 graduate of Mississippi State College for Women now MWU. She moved to Charlotte in 2018 and lived at Brookdale Carriage Club.

In 1946, Lillian married William Black Moore Jr. and after his service in the navy, settled in Louisville, Ky., where they had their three children.

Lillian was a wonderful flower arranger, being a member of the Kilmarnock Garden Club for 30 years. A woman of inspiring faith all her life, she served as the first female deacon at Kilmarnock Baptist Church in Kilmarnock. A special interest of hers was volunteering at Retreat Hospital in Richmond and St. Louis Children’s Hospital.

Lillian and Bill hosted their children and grandchildren on July 4th, Thanksgiving and Christmas for many years in their homes on the Corrotoman River.

She is predeceased by her husband of 69 years and is survived by her children, Kathryn Moore Dannels, William B. Moore III (Valerie) and Bethany Richmond Davies (George). In addition, Lillian is survived by six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
