Little League cancels World Series; local season still uncertain

Little League International has made the decision to cancel its World Series and region tournaments for the first time in the organization’s history.

Little League announced the move April 30, along with the cancellation of regional and state championship tournaments in other Little League divisions including softball.

However, according to a Virginia District 15 Little League release, that decision “in no way prevents local leagues from continuing with a regular season so long as all local and state requirements and procedures are followed. The Virginia State Little League Association has decided that no state tournaments will be conducted in 2020.”

The District 15 staff continues to meet virtually with the leagues with the goal of getting ballplayers back on the field for some type…
